In China, the largest single market, BMW Group will also launch a strong new energy vehicle offensive, launching five new energy models.

In addition, BMW Group’s investment in the Chinese market is also increasing.  From Feb 11 this year, BMW Group’s joint venture with its joint venture partner in China has been extended until 2040.

“2022 remains a very challenging year, but also a milestone year for the BMW Group.  We will continue to aim higher in China.”  BMW Group chairman Ziptzer said.

Accelerate the electrification offensive .

In fact, BMW Group’s determination and confidence to accelerate the transformation comes from the outstanding achievements it has achieved.

The latest figures show that in the fiscal year 2021, the revenue of BMW Group’s automotive business climbed to 95.476 billion euros, up 18.1% year on year, and the profit margin before interest and tax reached 10.3%. The contribution of the automotive business to free cash flow reached eur 6.354 billion at the end of 2021, up 87.2 percent year-on-year.

BMW’s strong growth in new car sales is behind the sharp rise in the automotive business.  In 2021, BMW Group delivered about 2.521,500 vehicles globally, up 8.4% year on year.  Among them, BMW Group’s cumulative sales in The Chinese market reached 846,200 units, up 8.9 percent year on year. That means China accounts for nearly 34 percent of BMW group’s global sales.

It should be noted that in 2021, BMW Group sold more than 320,000 new energy vehicles globally, up 70% year on year, and the global sales of pure electric vehicles doubled.  On this basis, BMW Group’s transition to electrification also hit the accelerator button.

This year, BMW Group mass production and trial production of pure electric models will reach 15;  The “new Generation” model based on the new architecture will begin trial production in 2024 and debut in 2025;  By the end of 2025, BMW Group plans to deliver 2 million pure electric vehicles worldwide;  By 2030, THE BMW Group plans to deliver a total of 10 million pure electric vehicles to customers.  By then, all Rolls-Royce products under BMW Group will be electrified;  BMW Motorrad urban travel series will be all electric;  The MINI brand will also be fully electric from the early 2030s.

“By 2030, at least half of total global sales will be pure electric vehicles.  We are doing everything possible to achieve this ahead of time.  By then, annual sales of pure electric vehicles are expected to exceed 1.5 million units. Of course, it also depends on the pace of development of charging infrastructure in different parts of the world and the availability of battery-related raw materials.” Ziptzer said.
