Shock absorbers are vulnerable parts in the process of automobile use. The working quality of shock absorbers will directly affect the stability of automobile driving and the life of other parts. Therefore, we should make the shock absorbers often in good working condition. The following methods can be used to check whether the shock absorber works well.
1. Make the car stop after driving 10km on the road with poor road conditions, touch the shell of the shock absorber by hand. If it is not hot enough, there is no resistance inside the shock absorber and the shock absorber does not work. At this time, the appropriate lubricating oil can be added, and then the test, if the shell heat, for the shock absorber internal lack of oil, should add enough oil; Otherwise, the shock absorber fails.
2. Press the bumper firmly and then release it. If the car has 2~3 jumps, the shock absorber works well.
3.When the car is moving slowly and braking in an emergency, if the car vibrates violently, there is a problem with the shock absorber.
4.Remove the shock absorber to the upright, and connect the bottom ring clamp on the vise, pull reduce vibration lever several times, this time should be stable resistance, pull up resistance should be greater than the resistance when pressing down on them, such as unstable resistance or without resistance, may be internal lack of oil damper or valve parts damaged, should be repaired or replacement parts.
After determining the shock absorber has a problem or failure, we should first check whether the shock absorber has oil leakage or traces of old oil leakage.
Oil seal gasket, sealing gasket rupture damage, oil storage cylinder head nut loose. It may be that the oil seal and sealing gasket are damaged and invalid, and new seals should be replaced. If the oil leakage still cannot be eliminated, the shock absorber should be pulled out. If the hairpin or weight is not felt, the gap between the piston and cylinder should be further checked whether the piston and cylinder is too large, the piston connecting rod of the shock absorber is not bent, and the surface of the piston connecting rod and cylinder is scratched or pulled.
If the shock absorber does not leak oil, it should check the shock absorber connecting pin, connecting rod (shock absorber piston rod), connecting hole, rubber, bushing, etc., whether there is damage, welding, cracking or falling off. If the above inspection is normal, the shock absorber should be further decomposed, check whether the gap between the piston and cylinder is too large, the cylinder is not strained, the valve seal is good, the valve disc and seat fit is tight, and the shock absorber stretch spring is too soft or broken, according to the situation to take repair or replace the method of repair.

The shock absorber should be tested on a special test table after inspection and repair. When the resistance frequency is 100±1mm, the resistance of the stretch stroke and compression stroke should meet the requirements, indicating that the shock absorber is basically normal.
