Automobile suspension is an elastic device connecting frame and axle in automobile. It is generally composed of elastic components, guide mechanism, shock absorber and other components, the main task is to ease the impact from uneven road to the frame, in order to improve the comfort of the ride:

2. coil spring: is the most used spring in modern cars. It has strong impact absorption ability and good ride comfort; The disadvantage is that the length is large, occupy more space, the contact surface of the installation position is also large, so that the layout of the suspension system is difficult to be very compact. Because the coil spring itself can not bear the transverse force, so in the independent suspension has to use four link coil spring and other complex combination mechanism.
3. leaf spring: mostly used in vans and trucks, by a number of different lengths of slender spring pieces combined. It is simpler than coil spring structure, low cost, compact assembly at the bottom of the body, the work of each piece friction, so it has its own attenuation effect. But if there is significant dry friction, it will affect the ability to absorb the impact. Modern cars, which value comfort, are rarely used.
4. Torsion bar spring: it is a long rod made of twisted and rigid spring steel. One end is fixed on the body, and one end is connected with the upper arm of the suspension. When the wheel moves up and down, the torsion bar has torsional deformation and plays the role of spring.
